Cheering for the team | Personal Post | Virginia Wedding Photographer | Faeth Photography
I've always been the one who lifted others up, encouraged them, cheered them on from the sidelines....I give all my positive praise to everyone who needs it. I spend all my time building other's up-not really thinking that I may need that too sometimes....funny how that works huh? I'm the type of person that shys away from praise...I don't like to speak about myself and I certainly don't like when other's talk about my "accomplishments" which makes it SUPER hard for me when I DO need that assurance that I'm doing OK. We all need that...that sentence "Your doing OK" is like this magical statement that really does make everything ok, but what the heck do you do when you can't even ask for assurance? It's not like your friends are mind readers & its certainly not something one thinks of all the time..."oh let me randomly tell someone they are doing OK today" it just doesn't work like that. The movement of #communityovercompetition has ignited this fire in the creative industry it's really great because it's kind of making us all mind-readers now. People are encouraging one another and rallying together to keep each other afloat. Photographers that I admire are sending encouraging thoughts and comments my way just when I needed them the most. It's changing. The industry is finally changing. We are all starting to cheer from the sidelines and it's growing more and more each day. One team. One united community of creatives all rallying together for one purpose-to succeed. It's been tiring on my own for so long, even cheerleaders need cheering....and now I have a few of my own. I know we can't be mind-readers but why not send a note, a card or even a letter/message to someone...anyone and just let them know they are doing "OK" that they are amazing, that they are going to be something amazing because YOU know they are someone special.
Be that random ray of light. Be their cheerleader....because you never know when that random "Go get em tiger" saves them for throwing in the towel.
